COUNTDOWN: Ten Games to Play on Switch This Halloween #7 Slender: The Arrival

Slender: The Arrival has a lot in common with the original Blair Witch Project and first Paranormal Activity. All low budget ventures using a clever, simple concept out of necessity to mass effect resulting in genuine scares. I am a devout fan of this approach, so upon finally getting the chance to play this game which had been around for a while before hitting the Wii U (and eventually Switch), what a surprise!

It actually scared me.

The initial release of this one back in 2012 left a terrifying impression. And for good reason: There’s a wonderful randomness happening for players strolling these first person dark woods collecting notes, all while some weirdo slender dude is creeping around, stalking you. That randomness is the key thing: He’s never in the same place each time you play before he grabs and #pullsyourass to an end screen. It’s that scare factor coupled with the serenity of the outdoor environments that make this one of those I can’t wait to see to see my friend play this game kinda games.

This one can keep on getting you.

Slender: The Arrival is available as a Direct Download from the Nintendo eShop for $9.99
