PSA: MARVEL VS. CAPCOM FIGHTING COLLECTION Hits the Nintendo Switch Today!

In the last Nintendo Direct there were plenty of software announcements to get excited about but the one that had the hairs on the back of my hairs stand up was one reveal in particular: A collection of classic Capcom developed arcade games featuring both their own internal characters as well as Marvel IP was miraculously on the way. Now, I have no idea how many legal hoops needed to be jumped through in order for this to happen; but to say that this is truly a huge deal for any fan of fighting games as well as both companies would be the definition of an understatement. And now it’s here.

I’m taking breaks from writing this to play it right now.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Arcade Classics is indeed a compilation I never had the audacity to even dream of ever actually happening. In fact, I seem to remember a lot of these titles being tethered to the Sega Saturn back in the day, which along with logistical licensing nightmares, seemed to pour concrete over any possible rereleases. But now as of today it’s available to purchase in all of it’s HD glory. Featuring a plentiful amount of bells and whistles along with zero to no load times, what can I say?

Please don’t pinch me. Please don’t wake me up.

Here’s how it’s stacked.

This collection boasts a number of beginner-friendly features such as adjustable difficulty levels, One Button Specials, and training modes.
Plus, players can save and load their progress almost anywhere and pick up right where they left off.

- Additional Features!
Players can view more than 500 pieces of artwork from all 7 titles along with never-before-seen development documents used to make the original games.
The Music feature contains over 200 tracks from the original arcade games that players can listen to at any time!

- Included Games
X-MEN CHILDREN OF THE ATOM
MARVEL SUPER HEROES
X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER
MARVEL SUPER HEROES vs. STREET FIGHTER
MARVEL vs. CAPCOM CLASH OF SUPER HEROES
MARVEL vs. CAPCOM 2 New Age of Heroes
THE PUNISHER
(!?)

You read that right. As a bonus to all of those classic Capcom fightin’ games, they’ve also included The Punisher beat ‘em up as the extra to rule all extras. Along with my shall we say, *cough* modified *cough* SNES classic which features Konami’s own X-Men brawler, good lord my living room has become an old school arcade safe haven for anyone out there in need of refuge. This is my Gambit moment, his “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for this?” line come to life.

Aside from immediately picking up this collection, I also have to encourage you to throw these sounds on in the background while you play through each game. Because c’mon…

That’s the kind of hairpin I am.
